Palm Sunday (March 25). We begin our journey through Holy Week, singing Hosannas and waving palms, as we remember Jesus entering Jerusalem. 4:00 pm at CCP.
Maundy Thursday (March 29). According to tradition, on the night of his arrest, Jesus shared his last supper with his friends in the upper room of a house. John Steele and Moira Mulligan have again generously offered to host us in their home for this favorite CCP tradition. An Agape Meal, foot washing ritual and time for fellowship will follow a period of worship and reflection, led by Rev. Deadra Ashton. 6:00 pm at John and Moira’s (142 Cumberland Road in the New North End.)
Good Friday (March 30). Rev. Deadra Ashton will lead us in a service of prayer, scripture and Taize singing as we walk with Jesus through his final hours on earth. Julia Blocksma will be our musician. 6:00pm at CCP.
Easter (April 1). There are two opportunities to celebrate Easter with your CCP family. We begin with a “Sunrise” service, shared with members of First United Methodist Church and led by our own Deadra Ashton and Rachel Fraumann (FUMC). 7:00am in Battery Park. Julia Blocksma will again be the musician for our “Easter Evening” service. A time of special refreshments and fellowship will follow the service. 4:00 pm at CCP.
One of the first things you’ll notice about CCP is the informality of our worship service, with lay and clergy participating together. Our focus is less on “dressing up” and more on being who we really are as God’s people. We value participation, spontaneity, flexibility, honesty, and openness to the movement of God’s Spirit among us. Yet our style of worship and being-in-community is very much within the Reformed tradition of Christianity. We come together to explore the Word of God, sing our praises, express our prayers with tears and laughter, and share the Lord’s Supper — every Sunday.
The Lord’s Table is the central place for us. Toward the end of the service, we share our Prayers of Joys and Concerns, and gather around the Lord’s Table to partake of Holy Communion. There’s room for you in the Circle!
Regular worship is at 4:00 pm each Sunday. The length of the service varies depending upon what’s planned for the afternoon and the extent of expressed joys and concerns.
